General Podiatry.

The average person walks approximately 1,000,000 steps per year, and this factor alone may cause problems to occur within the feet.

What causes these problems ?

Factors such as friction, pressure, structural alignment and inappropriate footwear are all precursors to the development of corns, callus, blistering, damage and thickening of the nails. The good news is these types of problems can usually be resolved easily and without pain.

Who does it affect?

Anyone who is walking on their feet of any age can be affected. Particular professions which required extensive amounts of standing and or walking may have increased predisposition to having these problems. Other systemic diseases such as diabtetes, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and neuromuscular conditions may be more susceptible to developing general problems with their feet.
