Diabetes

With a diabetic condition there are some important areas to address. One of the most important risk areas are your feet. At Coslia foot clinic we have developed a unique evaluation which covers all areas which may indicate risk.

Diabetes is characterized by a partial or complete lack of insulin production by the body. The two most common types of diabetes are Type 1 (insulin dependent diabetes) and Type 2 formly known as non-insulin dependent diabetes.

  • In Ireland it is estimated that 200,000 people are currently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and another 100,000 remain undiagnosed.

The risks of complications associated with diabetes can be greatly reduced if you are able to bring your blood sugar levels under control. They are also reduced if blood pressure and cholesterol levels are monitored and controlled with a healthy diet and sometimes medication.

Tobacco smoking is also not a good idea as it has adverse effect upon blood supply to your feet - see www.givingupsmoking.co.uk
