Foot Mobilisation Therapy

Foot Mobilisation Therapy

At Coslia Podiatry, our podiatrists are trained to advanced level in Foot Mobilisation Therapy (FMT). We have been trained by leading international experts in this field and this training is one reason that makes our clinic unique and specialised. FMT is an integral part of how we treat foot and leg pain. It is a treatment technique which in conjunction with a home exercise progam helps restore "normal" function to feet and legs that may have acquired dysfunction or abnormal functional movement paterns through years of compensated gait.

FMT is a quick painless manual therapy that is normally performed weekly over a period of 6 weeks or so.

FMT is usually combined with a patient specific home exercise plan that will include functional strengthening and stretching regimes.

It is an important supplementary treatment for most patients who require foot orthoses but also a successful course of FMT may negate that need for foot orthoses altogether. Some feet just need good mobilisation and a muscle strengthening program.

We discuss patients particular needs during the first consultation following a full biomechanical examination and gait analysis.
